The Melbourne Pollen App offers Victorians access to pollen forecasts based on real-world pollen count data gathered from a network of monitoring sites across the state. This app allows users to monitor their hay fever symptoms and pinpoint the specific pollen types triggering their discomfort. Through our notification system, individuals can receive alerts about elevated grass pollen levels in their vicinity, assisting them in planning activities accordingly.
Following the thunderstorm asthma event in November 2016, Melbourne Pollen has collaborated closely with the Victorian Department of Health and the Bureau of Meteorology. Together, we have devised a Thunderstorm Asthma forecast system to mitigate the impact of potential future epidemic thunderstorm asthma occurrences on the community and the Victorian health sector. Users can receive notifications about thunderstorm asthma forecasts particular to their area.
