The Melbourne Pollen App offers Victorians access to pollen forecasts based on real-world pollen count data gathered from a network of monitoring sites across the state. This app allows users to monitor their hay fever symptoms and pinpoint the specific pollen types triggering their discomfort. Through our notification system, individuals can receive alerts about elevated grass pollen levels in their vicinity, assisting them in planning activities accordingly.

Following the thunderstorm asthma event in November 2016, Melbourne Pollen has collaborated closely with the Victorian Department of Health and the Bureau of Meteorology. Together, we have devised a Thunderstorm Asthma forecast system to mitigate the impact of potential future epidemic thunderstorm asthma occurrences on the community and the Victorian health sector. Users can receive notifications about thunderstorm asthma forecasts particular to their area.

Key Features:

  • Accurate Pollen Forecasts: Obtain reliable predictions for various pollen types to effectively manage and identify hay fever triggers.
  • Proactive Notifications: Receive timely alerts when grass pollen levels rise in your location, providing you with the confidence to plan your activities.
  • Thunderstorm Asthma Forecasts: Developed in conjunction with health authorities, this forecast system aims to safeguard the community and health system from potential future epidemics.
  • Contribute to Research: Your participation in our surveys is crucial for advancing our knowledge of pollen's health impacts, which ultimately benefits the wider community.
  • Comprehensive Allergy Management: From pollen counts to Thunderstorm Asthma alerts, our app delivers a full range of tools to guide you through allergy season.

Melbourne Pollen is also actively engaged in research endeavors focused on enhancing our understanding of the health consequences associated with different types of airborne pollen. Engaging in our survey regularly plays a significant role in supporting this vital research initiative.
